The 4 Best Tips for Selling Cars for Cash – Plus A Bonus

Did you know you can make money off the cars sitting in your back lot? It’s true! There are auto salvage companies willing to buy your junk cars. It doesn’t even matter what condition they are in, they will buy it.

That old rusted out car you were holding onto waiting for the price to go up? It’s not going to go up in the foreseen future, so you might as well make some money off it right now. You can contact your local

and see if they want to take it off your hands. Selling junk cars are a pretty easy way to make some extra cash.

Tips #1 – Look At All The Money Going To Waste

The first thing you have to do is find cars that are sitting around doing nothing, but rusting away. Look at the neighbor’s yard, drive around other neighborhoods, and look in their backyards for old junk cars. Of course, you may have to give them 5 to 10 bucks, but most of the time they will pay you to haul it away. Then you can sell it to a salvage yard… that’s being paid twice for the same junk car. You can’t make better money than that!

Tip #2 – Asses The Value First

Be sure the junk car has no value on the market. That is the most common reason people have cars sitting in the backyards and side fields. They are waiting for a boom in the market before they sell so they can get the highest price possible. That boom has come and gone several times and no one is going to buy the car that has been sitting for 10 years since it will be full of rust and most likely, bugs and stuff. Some of them may be salvageable, but it will require quite a bit of work to get them to the running stage. If you do find one you can “fix up”, go for it. If it’s been sitting for any length of time, the owner is never going to “fix it up.”

Tip #3 – Claim Ownership

Be very sure they sign over the ownership to you. That means to get them to sign the title over. A salvage yard won’t touch it if it doesn’t come with a title. It may take a little work on your part such as visiting the DMV (Department of Motor Vehicles) and applying for a lost title. However, most of the time, the owner will have the title on hand.

Tip #4 – Get All Your Prices In A Row

Call around to the salvage yards and see how much you can sell each car. Of course, the junk yards are in it to make money just the same as you are selling to them. So, some may pay more for certain types of cars, while others will pay the going rate just so they can crush it down. Always check the going price.

That’s it! Just deliver the car and you can easily make $100 to $200 per car. Again, it depends on the market price. You’ll not only make money selling junk cars, but you’ll be cleaning up the neighborhoods as well. Isn’t that a nice feeling?

One more thing, be careful of your local law. Some cities and states have law about selling cars. You can sell only so many before you have to have a dealer’s license. Just check with your local city’s permit and licensing office. They’ll tell you everything you need to know.
